Manifestation: Science vs. Spirituality

Manifestation Science vs. Spirituality
This post is for education and entertainment only.

The term manifestation is only the latest in a long line of words used to describe the control of the physical world. Reality as humans understand it is a construct of our brains, a story we tell ourselves about what exists.

True reality is something we can never see. We don’t have the tools to observe it or the mental capacity to understand it. Our brain selectively chooses what we see based on what it thinks is important to us.

1: Spiritual Connection

The practice of manifestation has evolved and changed names throughout human history. Books like The Secret and Think and Grow Rich popularized the practices of intention, visualization, and autosuggestion.

Autosuggestion is the same as affirmations, using repetition to impress an idea onto the unconscious mind. Intentions is a form of clarifying the reality you want to experience. Visualization gives your mind practice.

Some people believe manifestation occurs because of divine connection to the universe, God, or Source. Prayer is a form of manifestation, and there are many variations of belief systems and spiritual traditions.

2: What Neuroscience Says

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s process for rewiring networks of neurons to new mental programs. The more you pay attention to something, the stronger the neural connections become, reinforcing your focus.

This is a continuous process as new data comes in from the world. The reticular activating system (RAS) is responsible for data filtering and notices opportunities based on repetition and reinforcement.

The default mode network (DMN), is responsible for daydreaming, visualizing, and managing identities. It helps you practice your desire through mental rehearsals of experiences.

3: Does Manifestation Work?

Manifestation does work for many people, but not everyone. You are the architect of your reality and your beliefs lead your story. The practices of focus and repetition are effective tools for transformation.

Manifesting methods mirror mental health exercises, increasing life satisfaction. When you’ve wired yourself to reinforce a reality, cognitive bias, or the observer effect, maybe, will show you opportunities.

Is the universe responding to your thoughts and emotions? Yes, because you are the universe you’re experiencing. You can think of that energetically, physically, or imaginary and you will experience it the same.

Conclusion

Whether you believe in science, spirituality, or a mix of both, these methods are effective tools in reaching your dreams. Only use practices you feel aligned with, not just what’s trendy. Always choose what feels right to you for an authentic and mindful life.
