How to Do a Mental Health Check-In

Mental Health Check-In
This post is for education and entertainment only.

A regular mental health check-in is a form of self-care. Your thoughts and emotions are the foundation for your behaviors. Mindfulness of your mind doesn’t have to be complicated or take a long time.

1 – Emotional Awareness

Start by becoming aware of what emotions you experience on a regular basis. Learn how to name them and what they feel like in your body. Fully experience the sensation and allow it to be there.

Feel Your Current State

Record your dominant feelings throughout the day. You can use a notepad or an app on your phone to record your moods. Notice your dominant emotional state and how it affects your behaviors.

Recognize Major Triggers

What situations or people cause the biggest reactions in you? Could it be a boundary violation, unmet expectations, or past trauma? Give yourself time to process these feelings before responding.
